GIVE YOURSELF A HALLOWEEN ELEVEN-OVER
Calling all Stranger Things binge-watchers: if you want to look like you stepped straight out of Hawkins IRL this Halloween, let us be at your service. Vintage shops are the best place to find genuine 1980s garb that won’t break your bank account – and we’ve got loads of them.
Here’s our guide of where to DIY that Stranger Things style in Camden Market.
ELEVEN
Eleven’s most iconic look starts and ends with that pink Peter Pan-collared dress. The back of Retro World is stuffed with real 1980s dresses and they’ve got a whole section dedicated to baby pink (easy). Team with vintage Converse from What Goes Around Comes Around and a blonde wig from Fancy Dress & Party on Chalk Farm Road. Or you could always shave your head.
To take the look to the next level, you could buy some futuristic space goggles from Cyberdog and cover them with gaffer tape. Or wrap some fairy lights from Blaze On in Camden Lock Place around your head. It’s what Dr. Brenner would want.
BARB
To be Barb you need three key things: a blouse, a pair of mom jeans and round glasses. St Cyr Vintage in The Stables stocks a great selection of shirts – checked, frilly and pussy bow – as well as Levi 501s to tuck them into. Finish with frames from General Eyewear (as the largest stockist of vintage eyewear in the world, this is Barb specs heaven) and a well-thumbed dictionary from the Basement Bookshop in The Stables.
MIKE
For all the men out there wishing they were Mike Wheeler, What Goes Around Comes Around and The Vintage Collection in The Stables are where you’ll find beige jackets and polo shirts a dime a dozen. All you need now is a BMX.
All die hard fans read here: Camden Assembly are doing a special Stranger Things inspired menu for Halloween. Fuel your shopping trip with an Eggos Waffle Burger with peanut butter and chilli jam, or some Stranger Wings with blue cheese dressing. It would be rude not.
