THE ESSENTIAL GUIDE TO CAMDEN’S BEST DRINKING DENS
Grab a drinking partner because you’ve got an extra lie in this weekend and there’s really only one way to celebrate that… in the pub, of course. Packed with trad boozers, canal-side watering holes and sunny terraces, NW1 offers ample opportunities for alcoholic refreshment.
And if there’s one man than knows a thing or two about them, it’s founder of Camden Town Brewery, Jasper Cuppaidge. Here, he shares his best places for a pint.
BLACK HEART
‘As they say, “Beer, booze and bands, in no particular order”. We’ve been drinking and pouring Camden at the Black Heart since it opened, and launched our Ink Stout here with a big, beer-filled party. It’s still the go-to place for the Beer Team here at the Brewery.’
KERB CAMDEN MARKET
‘KERB Camden Market has brought some of London’s top street food chefs together to make very good stuff happen, bringing a new spirit to the area. Our favourite trader is Ink – we love their salt and Sichuan pepper squid with miso mayo, alongside a pint of our our Hells Lager.’
LOCK TAVERN
‘Just round the corner from our Camden HQ, our beers have been on the taps since the early days. With an ace team behind the bar, awesome playlists, a huge beer garden and great live music, you just can’t go wrong.’
JOE’S
‘We have been drinking here alongside other bar teams across Camden for a good while. We even launched one of our very first beers here, Show Boat Brown Ale, back in the day. Top place for late night drinking, with a great line-up of DJ’s all week long.’
THE ROUNDHOUSE
‘A killer music venue on our doorstep, The Roundhouse has played host to some of the best bands around, with a back catalogue that includes icons such as David Bowie. A non-stop hub of creativity with workshops, sessions and installations for everyone. Hit up Joe’s, just opposite, for those post-gig beer needs.’
