TRAINER HEAD BLOGGER YANI FISH ON URBAN BRANDS OLD AND NEW
As the founding voice behind all-girl sneaker blog, Big Eyes, Little Soles – Yani’s trainer game is always on point. Never seen without the freshest kicks on her feet (with over 300 almost-boxfresh pairs at home), this 20-something-year-old dresses from the bottom up, effortlessly mixing streetwear and vintage denim. Here she tells us her top trader picks.
Superga
‘First stop, trainers. I’ve spent years toying with the fact that now I’m (a little bit) older, I should probably branch out and find something a bit more pared down. Classic Italian sneaker brand, Superga is the fashion girl’s trainer. Coming in a rainbow of colours, you can match these canvas plimsoles with any outfit – trust me.’
24HOURCLUB
‘I went to school in Camden so when I spotted a giant airstream on the cobbles, I knew it must be new. It turned out to be a pop-up from the awesome guys at 24HOURCLUB. They mainly stock menswear, but when you’ve been a streetwear fan for as long as I have, you learn little tricks to make a men’s small work for you. I’d rock this XLARGE long sleeve baseball tee with vintage jeans.’
Lantana
‘Next I stopped by Lantana for a coffee and to check my emails – work never stops! I wish I wasn’t on a super healthy eating trip because the cakes in that place are insane, especially the crack cake.’
St CYR Vintage
‘I love vintage denim; I can’t stop buying it… As a North Londoner, Camden Market is the place I’ve always gone to pick up a new (old) pair of 501s or a denim shirt. So my last stop was St CYR Vintage – there’s denim for days. With summer round the corner, I need a new denim jacket. I found a Levi’s one that fit perfectly.’
