FIVE LOCAL FIREWORK PARTIES A STONE’S THROW FROM CAMDEN MARKET

1 November means one thing: four more sleeps until Bonfire Night. Here’s five local firework displays illuminating North London over the next week or so. Swing by the Market first for some totally banging grub. All displays are kicking off over the weekend, so you might as well make a night of it.

THE KING’S DISPLAY

Back for the first time in four years, the bonfire party at Ally Pally is the daddy of London displays and called a fireworks festival for good reason. It’s the biggest party in NW1 and guaranteed to get the most ‘ahhhhhs’. This is where you’ll spot the greatest, sparkliest rockets dancing around the sky. And the entertainment isn’t half bad either with a fun fair, ice skating rink, a Day of the Dead parade and a German beer festival taking place too.

Date: Friday 4 and Saturday 5 November
Adult: £11
Child: £8.50

THE PTA PARTY

For one night only this all girls’ institution in Highgate will be letting boys onto the playing field. It’s a pretty display run by the parents of pupils at Channing School. Small but spectacular, there will be entertainers, food and beer tents.

Date: Saturday 5 November
Adult: £17
Child: £6

IN DA CRICKET CLUB

Support local at this traditional Guy Falkes party at Finchley Cricket Club. It’s been running for years, so they know their stuff. With freshly made food, music, a raffle and a big old bonfire, this is one for the whole family – guaranteed to keep both grandad and the little one’s happy.

Date: Saturday 5 November
Single: £5

THE FREEBIE

Primrose Hill might not be doing fireworks but this doesn’t mean you can’t hit the park and go watch the ones lighting up the rest of North London for FREE. It’s a bit of a wildcard but the perfect vantage point and only a 10-minute walk from Camden.

ONE WEEK LATER

Can’t make it this weekend? Don’t worry because the PTAs at King Alfred School in Hampstead have your back. This isn’t your average three rockets and a catherine wheel kind of display. There will be fancy falling-out-of-the-sky rockets, fire poi, a bonfire, mulled wine and street food. Sign us up.

Date: Saturday 12 November
Adult: £12
Child: £8
