NIGHT PIZZA, NIGHT PIZZA, WE KNOW HOW TO DO IT
East London’s best-loved slice merchant has officially joined the Camden Market family. The first Voodoo Ray’s, a late night, laid-back pizza and cocktail joint, was born when co-owner, Dan Beaumont (also a serious DJ and founder of Dalston Superstore) realised there was nowhere good in London serving decent pizza after hours. So he made it happen – three times now, in fact – and named it after a 1988 acid house track, obvs.
Voodoo’s is a slicker than your average pizza shop: exposed brick, graphic tiles and neon signage – and the Camden outpost offers a proper restaurant experience with sides and deserts, alongside the buy-a-slice-and-run option.
To celebrate their arrival, they’re throwing a two-week-long discount carb fest*, with half-price food from 5pm – which works out at about £2 a triangle, or £13 for a 22-inch pie. Served NYC-style, these slices come big (as your face) and are laden with proper ingredients. Take the Captain Beefheart, a pizza inspired by music and designed exclusively for us, dripping with mascarpone and mozzarella, and topped with layers of tender beef strips, florets of broccoli, chipotle, chives and red peppers.
Now, it’s important to cut through all that creamy mozzarella with something strong: they have plenty of craft ales in the fridge and unique drafts on tap. They also serve up milkshakes made with real ice cream, and signature frozen margaritas mixed in retro Slush Puppy machines.
Keep calm and come and grab it.
*50% off food offer runs from 1-15 September from 5pm until close.
